April’s most frequently quoted weather saying is “April showers bring May flowers.” This is a very accurate observation in Kansas. Although there are early blooming plants, the combination of the moisture in April with the warmer weather in May tends bring about an abundance of blooms. We go from an average of temperature of 55 oF in April to an average of 65 oF in May. Rainfall in April is normally 3.07 inches, with rain falling on an average 10 days. In contrast, January normal precipitation is less than an inch, with moisture falling on an average of 6 days. The anticipation of those bright blooms helps make the dreary, rainy days less depressing.
